Citizens of 41 countries can now visit the United States for up to 90 days without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). To enter without a visa, travelers must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approved before traveling.

The list of countries includes Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium Brunei, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.

This VWP is available for tourism or business trips to the USA. Those who still prefer a visa can apply for a regular B-1 (business) or B-2 (tourist) visa. However, not everyone from the mentioned countries can use the VWP easily. Travelers must apply for a visa instead of using ESTA if they:

  • Visited North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen on or after March 1, 2011.

  • Visited Cuba on or after January 12, 2021.

  • Hold dual citizenship with Cuba, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria.

Important:

Travelers must meet all VWP conditions to enter the U.S. without a visa. ESTA approval is mandatory before boarding a plane, ship, or any mode of travel to the U.S. Travelers can apply for ESTA through the official U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website.
