The UK has raised its visa and ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) fees from April 9, 2025. These changes apply to most visa types, including visitor, student, and work visas.

The visitor visa now costs €127, up from €115. For travellers from visa-exempt countries, the ETA fee increased earlier on April 2, now costing €16 instead of €10.

If you're planning to study in the UK, you’ll also face higher costs. The student visa fee has gone up from €490 to €524 for both main applicants and dependents. Child student visas follow the same change. For short-term English language courses (lasting 6 to 11 months), the fee is now €214, up from €200.

Fees have also increased for several types of work visas, including Health and Care Worker, Skilled Worker, and Temporary Work visas. The costs for settlement and long-term visas, such as Innovator Founder and Minister of Religion visas, have also gone up.

Experts in the education and travel sectors worry that these fee hikes may discourage young travellers and international students. Still, the UK government says the updated fees are necessary to support its immigration system.
