Turkmenistan is working on a new law to introduce an electronic visa system (e-visa), which could make it easier for foreigners to visit the country.
The Parliament is discussing changes to the migration law that would allow people to apply for visas online. This move aims to modernize the visa process and support tourism and business.
Right now, getting a Turkmen visa is difficult. Travelers must apply at embassies with an invitation letter, and the process often takes a long time. A 10-day visa on arrival is possible but also needs a prior invitation.
If the new system is approved, Turkmenistan will follow other Central Asian countries like Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, which already have e-visas. The change could make travel to Turkmenistan much simpler and faster.
