If approved, the visa will allow foreign remote workers to stay in the Philippines for one year, renewable for another. To apply for this visa, applicants must be 18 years old or older. Besides, they must have
Valid health insurance.
A clean criminal record.
Prove sufficient income earned outside the Philippines.
Cannot take local jobs or gain tax residency.
The proposal follows a rise in foreign visitors and officials expect the visa to boost local spending and the economy. Besides, digital nomads can contribute valuable skills, even if they don’t work locally.
With remote work on the rise, demand for cross-border banking has increased. If passed, the Digital Nomad Visa could attract more remote professionals, further integrating the Philippines into the global digital economy.
