Shanghai is preparing to open a new visa-free international business zone near Pudong International Airport by the end of 2025. Named the Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone, the area will cover 880,000 square metres and serve as a platform for international business activities.

The zone is designed to support global companies by offering spaces for meetings, exhibitions, and training sessions. Foreign nationals arriving at Pudong Airport on international or regional flights will be able to enter the zone without a Chinese visa, provided they have an invitation from a registered business entity. Visitors can stay for up to 30 days, with the option to apply for an extension if necessary.

Facilities within the business zone will include conference centers, exhibition venues, and offices catering to financial, legal, and consulting firms. A shuttle bus service will connect Pudong Airport’s upcoming Terminal 3 to the zone, allowing travelers to reach the site within 10 minutes.

The project aims to enhance Shanghai’s role as a global business hub while promoting sustainable development. All buildings in the zone are designed to meet ultra-low energy consumption standards, with a digital management system overseeing traffic, energy use, and security. The new business zone is expected to further strengthen the city’s international business environment and drive future economic growth.
