New Zealand’s Active Investor Plus Visa has seen a big rise in interest after new changes started on April 1, 2025. In just two weeks, over 2,500 people visited the visa application page, according to New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

This visa offers residency to international investors who put money into New Zealand’s economy. The updated program now has two options:

  • Growth category: NZD $5 million over a 3-year investment term

  • Balanced category: NZD $10 million over a 5-year investment term

David Cooper, head of Malcolm Pacific Immigration, said the new rules came at the right time. His team recently joined events in Germany, Singapore, and Hong Kong, where many people showed real interest in the visa. Similar events in New York and San Francisco also had strong attendance.

He said that in less than two weeks, 43 people have already applied for the visa. This is almost half of the total number of applications received in the last two and a half years under the old rules.

Cooper believes that by the end of May, more than 100 people may apply. He also thinks New Zealand could get 500 to 600 applications every year.

Another helpful change is that investors now only need to stay in New Zealand for 21 days over three years to get residency.
