Citizenship policies are different in every country. Some countries automatically give citizenship to babies born there, while others have conditions. A recent study by VisaGuide shows which countries offer birthright citizenship and strong passports with good travel benefits.

Canada gives automatic citizenship to every baby born in the country. Its passport ranks 39th and allows visa-free travel to 144 countries. Interest in Canadian citizenship has increased, as more people are looking into it due to discussions in the U.S. about ending birthright citizenship. Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil also give citizenship to babies born there.

Some countries have extra rules. In New Zealand (29th strongest passport) and Portugal (12th), at least one parent must be a citizen or resident. Spain (3rd strongest passport), Germany (11th), and the UK (38th) also have requirements. France and Italy give citizenship based on parent nationality or long-term stay. In Ireland, at least one parent must be a citizen or a legal resident for three years.

These citizenship policies play a key role in shaping migration trends, as people look for countries that offer birthright citizenship and strong passports with good travel benefits.
