Lesotho has announced that it will soon offer visa-free entry to all citizens of European Union member states. The decision was revealed by Prime Minister Sam Matekane during the Lesotho-EU Partnership Dialogue on May 14 in Maseru.

The move aims to strengthen ties with Europe and boost tourism and investment. Implementation details will be released soon, with the process reportedly near completion.

Currently, several EU and Western countries already enjoy short-term visa-free access to Lesotho. However, the country’s e-Visa system has remained suspended since April 2024, requiring travelers to apply through diplomatic missions or by email.
